2014-16 Committee vision and our work
We represent a cross section of the East London Sikh community who have a strong desire to enhance and improve the current Sevas carried out at both Gurdwara Singh Sabha Barking and Gurdwara Singh Sabha Seven Kings. The group represents the Sikh community inclusive of young professional Sikhs and experienced elders. The group is also encouraging women to take on leading roles within the Gurdwaras
Our vision
We want to make our Guru Khar’s the thriving hub’s of East London Sangat. We want our Sangat to feel more connected to our Guru Khars than ever before. In particular we want to empower our youth and females to take on prominant roles, and take this traditional seva to the following generations to come.

- Reduce the cost of the current fixed pricing policy for Gurdwara programmes such as Akhand Paaths, Sukhmani Sahib Paath and Anand Karaj.
- When sufficient funds are secured we will embark on developing the newly acquired site at Barking. We will also be looking to improve upon the parking facilities at the Seven Kings Gurdwara site as well as developing a new hall which is suitable for wedding functions, gym facilities and special events.
- Creation of an interactive website which gives full details of the Gurdwara's activities. We will use social media to promote Gurdwara events. Re-establish a strong relationship with Sikh media and encourage local programs from both Gurdwaras.
- Increase the number of high profile Kirtan and Smagam programs in addition to promoting home grown UK Parchariks.
- Support and promote Sikh charities.
- Focus more on community projects, responsive to the needs of the Sangat. We will set up a confidential community help desk to help counter domestic violence, addiction, mental health, grooming and bullying.
- Establish a nursery and organise regular playgroup for parent toddler groups.
- Offer introduction to Sikhi classes and more Sikhi Workshops for diverse age groups.
- Offer free Panjabi and Kirtan classes. Improve the IT facilities to help deliver better classes and offer GCSE classes at Seven Kings Gurdwara.
- Improve the sports facilities offered and align to Sikh philosophy.
- Ensure there is an active group of sevadars carrying out the seva of Gurbani translations on the projectors.
- Committed regular office hours and maximise current resources both in manpower and finance. Leveraging expertise from Project Managers, Consultants, accountants and City professionals.
